LUCY YORK STRUEVER (managing director and artistic director) graduated with Honors in Economics from Skidmore College. She began studying Ballet when she was seven years old, two years after she began playing the violin. She starting acting in community theatre productions when she was eleven years old and has been performing ever since. She studied theatre at the Baltimore School for the Arts, while continuing her dance studies, which now included modern and composition, at the nearby Peabody Preparatory. In high school and college, she had the pleasure of spending some significant chunks of time traveling and studying in Nepal, Chile and throughout Europe. At Skidmore, she had the good fortune to study dance with guest teachers Robert Battle, and Doug Varone and his Company. Other influential teachers have been Milton Myers, Mark Dendy, and Carol Bartlett. In New York, Lucy has been involved in several projects associated with York Dance Works, danced with Pi Dance Theatre, and acted in several plays. Most recently she appeared as a dancer in the upcoming film “The Audition” .

Established in 2003 by Choreographer and Artistic Director, Jonathan Riedel, the company is guided by this purpose in its performances, teaching, and outreach activities. We explore both timeless and innovative approaches to storytelling, drawing upon the emotional power of movement, music, and drama to bring our stories to life. The result: dance that is visually striking, innately musical, and infectiously expressive.
