Thank you for the congrats. We're doing our best to do what we love and live to see it. Life is way too short, so we have to hit on every level. The woman everyone is celebrating this coming Sunday was a great example of that way of life. Ari Up of the legendary female punk group The Slits.

Yes indeed! Jan 16th at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, All ages $15 adv & $20 at the door day of event. I believe this event may sell out.. Big up in The New Yorker, Village Voice and upcoming Weekend Edition of NY Times.

The Music Hall is a nice space... All ages thats great! I'm sure the press and all the word of mouth from fans and many artists friends will bring good numbers. Is it an early event?

I believe this show is going to be one not to miss. Hearing a lot of the music from most of the musical contributors... It feels like its going to be one of those perfect mixes of Love for Ari and the art itself. Yes I'll be there for sure.

Yes it's pretty incredible how many lives and hearts Ari touched... She really gave so much of herself Doing major blast tonight and can send you updated press release, many new names have been added. She was a True Warrior, if l must use her own words! I saw so many sides of her also on the road. She was kind to her fans and especially to children, she definitely had a clear sense of her purpose.
Ed Marshall:
Yes, everytime I had the opportunity to be around her she had a special kind of energy. Strong to say the least, she was definitely one of purpose.
Carolyn "Honeychild" Coleman:
Indeed. One of Ari's last interviews she said,"I'm not here to be loved, I'm here to be heard!" Pretty much summed it up.
Ed Marshall:
That right there makes it quite clear who she was.
Carolyn "Honeychild" Coleman:
Yep, It was not an easy path but she stuck to it. Being together with the group and hearing the stories- it's like she's still here with us! Also reading the lyrics now it is blowing my mind how CONSCIOUS she was between the ages of 14 and 18! The lyrics to Love and Romance, Typical Girls, deep! It's no wonder the Slits were friends with Poly Styrene of X-Ray Specs.

Well I didn't have a lot of exposure to her works back then. Really turned on to her more recently through you and the Apollo Heights guys. Again I wish she could have stayed a little longer. Just out of personal selfishness of course! You were very blessed to have had more intimate moments with her. This Sunday will be a great event with very positive energy in the music and imagery I can almost bet my life.
Carolyn "Honeychild" Coleman:
I do feel blessed. The timing was also symbolic. I got the call to go on tour with her on my birthday at 7:00am! What a year it has been...
Ed Marshall:
You know I had been itching to hear how the tour went, but once I heard of Ari's passing I thought it might be too much to go through.
Carolyn "Honeychild" Coleman:
Oh it was quite overwhelming when l heard I kind of went off the grid
Ed Marshall:
I'm sure it was... and you must have.
Carolyn "Honeychild" Coleman:
However, it made me realize we don't have tomorrow , nothing is guaranteed and all those other cliches. Sometime even though I get it. I still for selfish reasons wish she would have told us. Then reflecting I realize, Ari was a proud woman so l understand her choice now.
Ed Marshall:
Losing the people you love is tough! You know, I believe the people we love and lose... The ones that push in life always seem to push us forward somehow when they leave. I'm sure with Ari's personality she didn't want any sympathy or a feeling of people worrying for her. She seemed serious about her work, but almost selfless. Just not a selfish bone in her body... again only in my personal experience.
Carolyn "Honeychild" Coleman:
She definitely pushed us all! And yes l believe in retrospect she went out precisely the way she wanted the world to remember her She had so many plans! Spoke about the history and legacy a lot, onstage and in interviews.
Ed Marshall:
You know I know, you probably have a lot to do today and I don't want to hold you up. I would however like to spend more time talking about your personal work and what your future holds. In my opinion you are one of the hardest working artists here in New York City. An inspiration to many who know of you and I am here to help others that don't know get put on!
